CLLCTVE hosted CLLCTVE University: The Ultimate Creator Accelerator for 10 Weeks of Spring 2021. Each week came with its own upskilling workshop hosted by a CLLCTVE Creator.
Emma Rubinson, Senior Fashion & Apparel Design Major at Washington University in St. Louis, is hosted her workshop on Building a Creator Portfolio.
“My workshop will help creatives determine what to include in their design portfolios to show a range of skill and creativity,” said Emma. “Creatives will build a portfolio that draws upon their existing work, packaging it in a way that is true to their style.”
To help creators best prepare for her workshop, Emma provided three key components of a creative portfolio.
“It is so important to be able to show the WHY. While showing a beautiful illustration is great, it’s much more meaningful to show the concept behind it and how you got there.
“A strong brand shows you know who you are as a designer, and as you enter the industry, you’ll need to find a problem in the market to solve or a niche to fill.
“More than anything, your portfolio is made to help you stand out! Developing a new idea and really knowing how to push it to its fullest capacity will take you far.”
